Taking Stock

By jabril yousef faraj

This anthology of 63 poems, written in late 2017, is jabril’s first published collection. In these observations/meditations, they focus on the minutiae of human connection and nature in an attempt to escape the sometimes-overwhelming weight of responsibility and capture the boundless beauty — and occasional dissonance — that exists between lives.

An unparalleled debut, this text will keep the reader questioning, and leave them wanting more.

  1. Jabril Faraj’s Taking Stock holds a magnifying glass up to nature and humanity, allowing the opening to go deeper and see what we typically don’t take the time to notice. Faraj’s observations allow the reader to see past themselves and how they intersect with the world around them. Get a copy for a friend because you’ll write in the margins, dog-ear, read and re-read ‘Taking Stock’ because without a doubt, it’ll comfort and stretch you in ways you wouldn’t expect.
